Shared Dreams

What is Shared Dreams?

The Shared Dreams program provides short term assistance to registered Fort Bend ISD students whose needs have been determined by their campus nurse with assistance from campus staff. The program relies on monetary and in-kind donations of clothing, toiletry items and school supplies from schools, business and community partners. It is not funded by the state, government or school district.

How can you help?  The program asks that each school in FBISD do their part to support the program by holding at least one drive each year, as well as providing assistance working in the Shared Dreams facility 3 days each school year.

1. Participate in Baines school drives by donating whatever items are requested at that time.

We held a drive during orientation & we will hold one additional drive in February this year.

There is also a Shared Dreams box in the Baines front office at all times. You can drop off items you’d like to donate any time throughout the school year.

Last year, Baines PTO adopted a family for the Shared Dreams Holiday Cheer program.  This program provides holiday gifts to FBISD families in need specially selected by school counselors & nurses.  A sign up genius will be going up again this year in November-December to collect donations.  Please participate by signing up to help donate gifts!

2. Please volunteer at the Shared Dreams facility almost any Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, 10:30 am-1:30 pm during the school year. Drop ins are welcome & any time you can give is appreciated! Please consult the Shared Dreams website listed below for more specifics on hours of operation.

Shared Dreams also asks that each school in FBISD provide volunteers to work in the facility 3 days each school year. The facility is just a short drive from Baines at 1555 Independence Blvd. in Missouri City. Our volunteer days this year are: November 7, 8, and 10th.

ANY amount of time you can give is welcome & very much appreciated. Please be sure that you have completed your FBISD volunteer background check ahead of time, a link to which can be found at: https://www.fortbendisd.com/Page/830

Do you have a student looking for community or YES hours? They can help at the Shared Dreams facility over the Christmas Holiday. Those days & hours will be posted when they’re determined by Shared Dreams.

What items can be donated?

1. Clothing & Shoes – new or gently used clothing items accepted are: pants (jeans, jogging pants or dress pants), shorts, skirts, dresses, shirts (button down, t-shirts, sweaters), jackets, sweatshirts, pjs.
