Nominate a Staff Member with GRIT

From Dr. Roberts:

As you know we are focusing on GRIT this year at Baines Middle School.  We want to provide our staff and students opportunities to grow, be resilient, take initiative, and be tenacious.  We have tied the focus on GRIT to gardening.  We want to plant seeds of knowledge, inspiration, motivation, and belief in our students and our staff.

This year, we would like you to have an opportunity to recognize any staff member who has shown the elements of GRIT (growth, resilience, initiative, or tenacity) or the attributes of the FBIS Profile of a Graduate:  communication or collaboration.

Please use this link to nominate a staff member for Gardener of the Month.  This is a staff remember who has gone above and beyond to help your child or others practice GRIT or in the areas of communication or collaboration.  The link will be available each month and the nomination window will close on the last Friday of the month.

Guiding Promising Students – FBISD Mentor Program

Guiding Promising Students

Become a Fort Bend ISD GPS Mentor!

You can make a difference in the future of a student!

Collaborative Communities recruits volunteer mentors to meet with students from all grade levels for 30-60 minutes once a week during the school day. Research shows mentoring supports the basic needs of affection, approval, belonging, and security while improving a student’s social and emotional well-being, self-confidence, and attitude to learning.

Everyone is a potential mentor! Parents and individuals from the community, businesses, and local organizations who are genuinely interested in supporting the academic, social and emotional needs of Fort Bend ISD students, are invited to join this program.

All prospective mentors must attend a one-time mandatory training and submit an online FBISD Volunteer Criminal History Application.

Visit the FBISD GPS site HERE for more information and for the training schedule

Box Tops

Did you know that for every box top collected, Baines earns 10 cents? If each student submitted 4 Box Tops a month during the school year, our school would earn over $4500. Keep collecting ALL YEAR LONG and send them to school with your child.  There is a Box Tops mailbox at the entrance to the school.  The fall deadline is October 25th!!!
