Help is needed to set up and decorate Friday afternoon. Additional help is needed at the social to serve snacks and chaperone. Please sign up if you are able to help.  

We are also asking for snacks and candy donations. There is a list of suggested snacks and candy ideas, but don’t stress if you can’t find exact item, any one will do! Please note that PEANUTS ARE NOT ALLOWED due to food allergies. 

**Snacks/Drinks can be dropped off at the front office Mon. 1/30 until Fri. 2/8**

Please sign up to sell carnations for Valentine’s Day.  We need at least three students per lunch. Students: Check with the teachers whose classes you will be missing.  You are responsible for any work that you miss.  Location: Baines Commons

Parents: we would like to have 3-4 adults per lunch on Friday, Feb. 10 and Monday, Feb. 13.

Time again to show our sweet teachers and staff some amore at Baines with an Italian feast on Friday, February 10th! Non-perishable items can be dropped off the week of February 6th at the front office. Please bring all other items and warm dishes / crockpots by 10am on Friday the 10th to the teacher’s lounge. 

Dishes will be cleaned and left in the teacher’s lounge after lunch for pick-up.  Your support is appreciated!

Shrek the Musical- Feb. 3/4

Nasty will be nice and Sienna Plantation will be ogre-the-moon when Baines Middle School Theatre and Choir Departments present their production of Shrek The Musical Jr. beginning Friday, February 3rd at 7 PM and Saturday, February 4th at 7 PM in Baines commons.  The family-friendly musical comedy follows the adventures of an ogre named Shrek who sets off on a quest to save a princess from a dragon.  However, it turns out that in order to ultimately succeed, Shrek must battle an even bigger obstacle; learning how to believe in himself and open his heart to others. 

Shrek The Musical Jr. is directed by Kristin McNeely  Baines Theatre Director, Corey Kerr Technical Director, Karen Clark Baines Choir Director and Eric Laine Assistant Choir Director.  Tickets will be sold for $7 during school beginning Monday, January 30th during all lunches.  You may also purchase tickets online through the following links:

7th Grade Immunization Updates

In order for your child to enter the 7th grade, they are in need of updated immunizations to be on file in the clinic. These are the immunizations needed.

For 7th grade: 1 dose of Tdap is required if at least 5 years have passed since the last dose of tetanus-containing vaccine.

For 7th – 12th grade, 1 dose of quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine is required on or after the student’s 11th birthday.

The 1st dose of varicella must be received on or after the 1st birthday.

For K – 12th grade: 2 doses are required.

Shared Dreams Ugly Shoe Drive February 21-24

Please bring your shoes to Baines the week of February 21-24 to benefit FBISD’s Shared Dreams program!  The shoes can be brand new, gently used or really ugly & worn.  New & gently used shoes will be donated to Shared Dreams to provide to FBISD students in need.  Ugly & worn out shoes will be repurposed & recycled providing Shared Dreams with 40 cents per pound for ANY type of old footwear, regardless of condition.  Now, is a great time of year to start your spring cleaning early to benefit a great cause!  For more information about Shared Dreams, go to www.bmspto.org & look under the volunteer tab.

8th Grade Parent Meeting / Course Selection Info

Greetings parents,

You should have already received an email with important dates listed related to PSAT 8/9 results and course selection for your child’s 9 th Grade year!

Please join the 8th grade counselors and administrator on THURSDAY, January 26, 2016 at our Spring Grade Level Parent Meeting where important information will be shared, questions answered and a timeline of events will be shared. We will begin promptly at 6:30 PM in the Commons here at Baines Middle School. We look forward to seeing you there!

SAVE THE DATE!

The vote is in and the theme for the 8th Grade Exit Party will be A Night In New York City! The event will be held on Friday, May 19th from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. There will be finger foods, desserts, a DJ, casino tables, a photo booth and more! More details will go out to all 8th grade parents closer to the event!
